Pre-internship simulations can be a great addition to a government company’s talent scouting process. Here are some proven benefits that you could bank on by being a part of a well-designed simulation involving students at a post-secondary level.
Pre internship simulations can be structured test drives for both your company and participants. This can make the internship process and recruiting smoother.
By building a database of students through networking and interactions, your company can fastrack the recruiting and onboarding process, which usually takes between 6 and 8 weeks in a normal situation.
Since most student-focused simulations are focused on the company, its tasks, and employees, there is a lot of customization and flexibility in simualtion programs for the companies who participate. This includes discretion over training modules and how they choose for employees to participate in the simulation.
Sheridan College’s Level One has been one of TPS’s best channels to scout young talent before the co-op and internship window opened up. This allowed our hiring and supervisory teams to connect with students and train them in anticipation of future roles. We were able to hire more than 15 students directly after Level One for our co-op positions, with 5 students landing full-time roles after.

Government agencies can benefit a lot from Sheridan’s Level One program. This simulation has helped us find the best young talent that universities and colleges have to offer for roles ranging from marketing and communications to IT and architecture.
We were able to network and connect with more than 100 students across 20 programs, out of which we hired 40 students. Of these, 20 students are returning for a second internship term, and seven full-time job offers have been made in Fall 2024. TTC’s employees find this to be a very beneficial part of their day, and take joy in connecting personally with young talent.
